Luguber (Lugubrious) is a metal band from the Suriname city of Nieuw Nickerie, founded in 2014 by Shavero Ferrier (vocals/guitar). Ferrier was previously a member of punk band De Rotte Appels (The Rotten Apples), which can be heard on the 2013 compilation album Punks Not Deaf.

After months of intense jamming with Akeem Smith (drums) the duo moved to the capital city of Paramaribo to play some shows. These were so successful that the guys decided to go into the studio the capture their own unique sound. A number of songs were recorded including one with Sean Maia, lead singer of the Dutch thrash metal band Disquiet. Luguber spent an entire year as a duo act before adding Norman Padma on bass.

Luguber is a mash-up of genres ranging from Hardcore, Doom and Thrash to Grunge. Most of the songs are written in Dutch in order to reach as many fans in the Surinamese rock scene as possible.

On April 30 Luguber is playing the finals of the Wacken Metal Battle Caribbean in Paramaribo. Together with four other bands from Trinidad & Tobago, Aruba and French-Guyana, they are entering the competition to be chosen to represent their region. The winner will be taking part in the international finals at Wacken Open Air this summer in Germany, the biggest metal festival in Europe.

On April 18 This Could Be Your Music Label is releasing the very first Luguber single 'Alleen' (Alone). The track will then be available on all major digital platforms worldwide to download and stream.
