Frederic Voorn is concertpianist, componist en dirigent van vier koren. Hij schrijft artikelen voor diverse bladen en maakt sinds 1997 programma's voor Radio 4. Voorn studeerde piano aan de conservatoria van Amsterdam en Utrecht om vervolgens in Londen en Moskou zich verder te bekwamen. Hij ondernam concertreizen van Canada tot Thailand en gaf concerten in zalen zoals de Tonhalle in Zürich en het Concertgebouw van Amsterdam.
 

Als componist heeft Voorn een oeuvre geschreven dat regelmatig wordt uitgevoerd. Zo ging zijn String Quartet in première in de Verenigde Staten en werd Die Gedanken Sind Frei gezongen in de Hermitage. Op zijn vorige albums was vooral werk van anderen te horen, nu is er Voorn Plays Voorn met alleen eigen pianocomposities: Een gloednieuwe Piano Sonata, de Suite La Forêt Perdue en zijn Pièces Simples Et Naturelles.

Frederic Voorn is a concert pianist, composer and conductor of four choirs. He writes articles for various magazines and is a producer for Radio 4 since 1997. Voorn studied piano at the conservatories of Amsterdam and Utrecht, after which he acquired further skills in London and Moscow. He did concert tours from Canada to Thailand and gave concerts in venues such as the Tonhalle in Zurich and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw.

 

As a composer, Voorn has written a body of work that is performed regularly. So was his String Quartet premiered in the United States and Die Gedanken Sind Frei was sung in the Hermitage. On his previous albums, the work of others can be mainly heard. Now there is Voorn Plays Voorn, featuring just his own piano compositions: A brand new Piano Sonata, the Suite La Forêt Perdue and his Pièces Simples Et Naturelles
